Pets of Western Home (continued)

Residents love their furry friends, and we started showing off some of their dogs last month.  This month, we have five cats to introduce.

Chris Lorenz with her cat Dory sitting behind her.

Dory

Owner: Chris Lorenz

Breed: Devon Rex

Personality: Tremendously loving and cuddly

Likes: Finding new hideout spots like the tops of cabinets and shelves

Deja

Owner: Chris Lorenz

Breed: Grey Tiger

Personality: Adventurous and sometimes aloof

Likes: Sunbathing and playing with Dory

Deja (top) and Dory (bottom) sunbathing on the couch.

Chris, who has always had cats, adopted Deja from a humane society in 2020, followed by Dory a few years later. Although Chris initially worried about how the two would get along, she was pleasantly surprised to see them form a sweet friendship. Dory is the alpha cat between them, and she likes jumping on the mantle or play-fighting with Deja. Her playful energy also comes out in showing those she meets how friendly and warm she is! Together Dory and Deja bring Chris company after her husband, Dan, passed away.

Eileen Kruse holding her cat Sonny.

Sonny

Owner: Eileen Kruse

Breed: Siamese

Personality: Friendly and a little feisty

Likes: Greeting neighbors in the hall while on walks

Eileen and Sonny have been enjoying the sun and each other’s company for seven years. Eileen says she likes having Sonny around because, “He keeps close to me.”

Jenny Allen holding her cat Tilly.

Tilly

Owner: Jenny Allen

Breed: Tortoise Shell

Personality: Daring and friendly, can be up to no good

Likes: Finding new ways to keep Jenny on her toes

Hazel the Elusive

(fittingly, no photo!)

Owner: Jenny Allen

Breed: Tuxedo

Personality: Shy and a bit of a scaredy-cat, attached to her friend Tilly

Likes: Discovering new hiding places around the apartment

Jenny, a lifelong cat lover, has a hard time saying no to more cats. When her friend needed someone to take in two of her cats, Tilly and Hazel, Jenny gladly volunteered. Tilly is a friendly cat who loves storms and chasing raindrops or snowflakes. Hazel couldn't be more opposite. She would prefer to stay indoors and away from anything scary. Jenny wouldn’t have moved without her cats, and she is grateful to have them with her at Western Home Communities.
