  • Bring your favorite furniture and decorate the way you like. Your small housebroken pet is also welcome.

  • Whenever you would like!

  • We have a nurse on duty in the building 24/7 to help with any needs. Some assisted living providers only have someone on call overnight, but we believe it is safer to have someone actually in the building who can respond immediately.

  • If you are able and it’s ok with your doctor. If not, we offer medication administration at no extra charge.

  • All apartments in Windhaven have a kitchenette complete with a small refrigerator and microwave. You can bring a toaster and coffee maker.

  • Yes, each one has individually controlled heating and cooling.

  • We have lounges, private dining rooms and other spaces that are available for personal gatherings, whether it be your card club or a family birthday party. Talk to the receptionist at your front desk to reserve one of these spaces.

  • Of course. Internet access is not included in your paid utilities but is easy to set up through Cedar Falls Utilities. We can help you contact CFU if you’d like. Free wireless access is available in Windhaven commons for those with laptops. Our technology department is available to answer residents’ computer questions.

  • Yes. Parking spaces are available in the front lot of Windhaven.

  • No. We have not and will not. Such a practice is against our corporate integrity policies. Additionally, the State Department on Aging website tells consumers to be wary of using any agency that accepts referral fees from assisted living providers; if you’re not sure, you should ask. Many of these consulting services are free to families but, in reality, are being paid by the assisted living provider.

We have experienced directors of resident relations here to give tours, answer your questions and guide you through the entire process of becoming part of the WHC family. They have helped hundreds of families navigate the process. Feel free to contact them with your questions.

Life at Western Home Communities

Passion For Mountain Climbing Took Prairie Wind Couple To More Than 45 Countries

“Mountaineering is risky,” says Harry. Once, they got caught in a blizzard on Grand Teton. As the rock became slick and visibility decreased, they decided to take a short cut in their descent and did a 300 foot repel in the blowing snow, shortening their descent by five hours.
