Introducing the pets of Western Home

Our residents have lots of furry friends, and we want to show them off! These pets have changed lives and made each day a little bit brighter, not just for their owners but neighbors, too.  Say “Hi!” to a furry friend when you see one!

Izzy

Owner: Deb Volgarino

Breed: Cavachon

Personality: Protective when first met, extremely cuddly after calming down

Likes: Wearing matching sweaters with Toby

Toby

Owner: Barb Seufferlein

Breed: Cavachon

Personality: A little bossy, contagiously sweet and loving

Likes: Taking long walks with Izzy

These two villa residents can mark a date to the beginning of their friendship. Deb’s puppy pictures of Izzy were enough to convince Barb it was time to get one of her own. Little did they know, their puppies would be half siblings and immediately form a special bond between the four of them. Now, Barb and Deb hang out with their puppies regularly. Between taking walks, playing dress up, and having sleepovers, the sweet Cavachons get lots of sibling time.

Husker

Owner: Carolyn Haney

Breed: Half Bichon, Half Shih Tzu

Personality: Easily excitable, always ready for a good scratch

Likes: Jumping up and down everytime Carolyn comes home

Husker is particularly special to Carolyn as he came into her life right after Roo, her previous dog, and her husband both passed. She described it as an answer to prayer when she needed comforting. Now, the three-year-old puppy keeps Carolyn on her toes with lots of excitement and bad behaviors to correct. Life has been full of Husker’s enthusiasm since the day she got him!

Stella

Owner: Jan Blevins

Breed: Havanese

Personality: Protective of Jan, exceptionally loving when she gets to know you

Likes: Doing impressive tricks for tasty treats

Jan and Stella are good buddies. Ever since 2021 when Jan moved to Western Home with her husband, Stella loved meeting new people and roaming the beautiful campus. Earlier this year, Jan’s husband, Michael, passed away in Nation Cottage after battling Alzheimer’s. Jan is grateful for her furry friend’s companionship and said, “So she is just there for me, ya know?”

Next month, we’ll meet some feline friends and their owners.
