Donor opportunities at Western Home Foundation

The V. Carole Martin Dementia Training and Education Fund

Larry and Carole Martin shared a beautiful marriage and two children. The beginning of a new chapter in retirement brought Carole’s unexpected diagnosis of dementia, and Nation Cottage became her home. The team supported Larry as they cared for and loved Carole.

In gratitude, Larry and his children gave a gift to name the courtyard in Carole’s memory. They also created a fund to help employees stay up-to-date on the latest dementia research and best caregiving techniques, so other families in their situation could benefit.

Other donors contributed and two events with A Positive Approach to Care® were immediately planned. Amanda Bulgarelli presented sessions in June 2023, and Teepa Snow brings her unique training to Diamond Event Center this month.

These unique trainings help loved ones and WHC caregivers feel confident in their abilities to reduce friction, increase harmony and create a positive environment for those living with brain change caused by dementia. Events like these wouldn’t be possible without the V. Carole Martin Dementia Training and Education Fund.
